There is
nothing a student needs to understand more
than the importance of obtaining and maintaining a patient's airway. The "A" in ABC's is
paramount in patient care.
If
a patient doesn't have a good airway, nothing else matters!
Academy
Instructor John McIntosh demonstrates how to
insert an nasopharyngeal airway........ on himself
See, this is
what it's supposed to look like when you're done!
Students learn every
aspect of airway management from
tasks so basic as attaching a regulator to an oxygen bottle
Students are well
versed in the latest equipment and techniques
in EMS such as the double-lumen airway or Combitube (TM)
Students are given plenty of one-on-one time with the instructors
Academy equipment is made available to students whenever
they may need it - before, during and after class. Special
arrangements can even be made for after hours access
